Member Services Division
The Member Services Division of the Association offers a range of support services to Member Credit Unions in various aspects of their operations and strategic development.
Member Services oversees member relations, human resources and administration, and provides support to both Member Credit Unions and the Association in the following areas:
- Guidance on legislative changes
- Education and development courses for Credit Union Directors, management and staff
- Networking opportunities for Credit Unions through events such as the annual Conference and AGM, Consultative Rounds and Credit Union Forums
- Maintaining the Association’s membership records
- Assisting the New Zealand Credit Union Foundation in development activities
- Administration of the Colin Smith Memorial Fund
Risk and Compliance Services provides compliance advice and assistance relating to legal regulatory obligations imposed by the Crown, along with Trust Deed Supervision in conjunction with Trustees Executors Limited, Perpetual Trust Limited and the Maori Trustee. The team provides support to Credit Unions in the following areas:
- Management consulting
- Strategic planning
- Governance guidance
- Management systems and accounting procedures
- Financial and operational performance monitoring
- Best practice guidelines and benchmarking
- Government relations
Business Development is responsible for the Association's products and providing marketing services and creating greater awareness about the New Zealand Credit Union Movement. It provides support to Credit Unions and the Association in the following areas:
- Management of the Association's products
- Marketing
- Public affairs and public relations
- Communication and marketing guidance
- Production of Credit Union Newz, the Annual Report, other internal publications and marketing collateral
- Developing and maintaining the Association’s website and intranet
- Liaising with the World Council of Credit Unions on international events and other affiliated organisations, where appropriate
- Assisting Credit Unions with their marketing and growth strategies

Business Services Division
The Business Services Division develops and supplies banking and insurance products to Member Credit Unions as well as other non-bank financial institutions.
Banking Services offer a comprehensive range of banking services such as Accesscard - a Maestro® enabled debit card which can be used at Eftpos/ATM locations locally and overseas; Accesscredit® - a secure PIN-based Maestro® enabled line of credit card which can also be used locally and overseas; Accessweb - a two-factor authentication enabled internet banking platform; Accessphone - a secure telephone banking service and Accesstxt® - a mobile phone banking balance enquiry, bill payment and fund transfer facility. Accesscash® ATMs are part of the Credit Union owned ATM network, currently there are 60 machines located in various towns and cities around New Zealand.
Finance Services provides an interface to the clearing system which allows individual Credit Union customers to have bank accounts that receive cleared funds. It provides them with a full range of payment options, including direct debits, direct credits, automatic payments and cheques.
Central Banking is a facility to accommodate surplus Credit Union funds as well as to provide a complete banking package for Member Credit Unions. The services provided include a current account, revolving credit, liquidity support, term investments, line of credit, overdrafts and interest rate swaps.
Our mortgage products provide a range of flexible and affordable home loan options. Welcome Home Loans are also offered by selected Credit Unions in conjunction with Housing New Zealand Corporation.
The Credit Union KiwiSaver scheme – a government initiated long term savings scheme offered by Credit Unions and administered by Mercer Human Resource Consulting Limited.
Credit Union Insurance (CUI) is an insurer in its own right and manages relationships with insurance partners to provide competitively priced products that help minimise the financial risks faced by Credit Unions and their members. It also provides a combined Fidelity and Liability group insurance policy for Member Credit Unions, thereby protecting Credit Unions, their staff and their members.
CUI offers a range of insurance products, which Member Credit Unions provide to their customers such as Loan Protection and Repayment, Life Insurance, Life Cover Plus which is offered primarily with a Credit Union Home Loan, Motor Vehicle Insurance, House and Contents Insurance, Income Replacement Insurance and Funeral Plan.
Information Services manages the FACTS Computer Bureau, a 24-hour online banking system specifically tailored to Credit Unions’ needs. FACTS is the most widely used Credit Union banking software in New Zealand.
Information Services also provides secure internet access and email facilities to Credit Unions nationwide.
Credit Unions using the FACTS bureau and transactional banking have access to the System Support Centre for helpdesk support.
