About Credit Unions
Our Member credit unions provide a much needed option to New Zealanders who want to be part of a value driven organisation which truly acts in the best interest of their local community.
One of those values is integrity which is demonstrated in the ownership of a credit union. Since credit unions are owned by their members all decisions made by credit unions are made for the benefit of their members.
Credit unions share a genuine commitment to making a difference in people's lives by:
- gaining a real understanding of their financial needs, and
- helping them to achieve their short term or long term dreams.
This approach is based on the credit unions’ philosophy of “people helping people” and the principle of wise use of money (thrift) so that no matter where you are in life, you can achieve more by developing a regular savings habit to help you in the long term.
It is often believed that everyone, as some stage in life, may need a coach to help them get where they want to go. The people behind credit unions have a wealth of financial knowledge and banking experience. They have already assisted many people from all walks of life.
Over 176,000 New Zealanders already belong to NZACU credit unions as they believe in the philosophy and values at the heart of each credit union. They are part of a team of “people helping people” and benefit from the wisdom of the warm and friendly professionals working there.
