Colin Smith Memorial Fund
Credit Union Earthquake Grant Available
Following the disastrous events of Tuesday 22 February, the Colin Smith Memorial Fund, with the support of New Zealand Association of Credit Unions, established a Christchurch Earthquake Relief Fund to be distributed appropriately to any credit union members affected by the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake.
- Funding closes this Friday so there is still time to donate to this very worth cause.
- Applications for the Emergency and Hardship Grants for affected credit union members will open on Monday 14 March 2011.
In order to be eligible for an Emergency and Hardship grant:
(a) At the time you apply, you must have had to leave your home due to damage of your home.
OR
(b) you have had to leave your home due to lack of power, water or sewerage services,
OR
(c) You are living in your home but lack power, water or sewerage services,
OR
(d) You have been affected in some way by the February 2011 earthquake.
Plus or including
• Credit Union members living in Christchurch at the time of the earthquake.
• Without Power, Water or Sewerage.
• Credit Union People forced to leave their home because of damage or lack of facilities.
• Eligible for $ 200 (Single person) or $ 500 (Couples and families).
• Bereavement grant of $ 1,000 is available to those who have next of Kin confirmed dead in the earthquake.
• Next of Kin includes an “immediate family member” as follows: the deceased persons spouse, de-facto partner, parent sibling or child. Only one application will be considered in relation to each deceased person.
• Recipients of other quake grant funds may not qualify for more than one grant.
• Grants will be electronically transferred into each recipients Credit Union account once approved.
• All grants are subject to meeting the application form criteria and funding availability.
