Henry Lynch

Chief Executive Officer

Henry was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of New Zealand Association of Credit Unions in September, 2010.

Prior to his appointment at NZACU Henry was CEO at Dorchester Life.

Henry has held senior management and executive roles at Westpac Bank, Tower Insurance Ltd and Catalyst Risk Management Ltd where he was CEO.  Henry’s core competencies cover banking, insurance and finance at executive level.

Henry lives in Auckland and his interests include reading, sport and Aikido (a Martial Art) where he is an instructor and holds a fifth degree black belt and was inducted in to the New Zealand martial arts hall of fame in 2009.

David Smart

Chief Financial Officer

David Smart is Chief Financial Officer with over 10 years as head of Finance at New Zealand Association of Credit Unions.

During his tenure, David has had responsibility at various times for all departments and products within NZACU. He also led the introduction of NZACU’s ACCESSCASH ATM network and banking services products.

Prior to joining NZACU, David was a lecturer at the Auckland University of Technology in Financial Management, Accounting and Banking for 8 years, a Director of Arbuthnot Latham Bank (UK) for 1 year and Group Internal Auditor at NZI Bank.

David lives in Auckland and his interests include reading, travel and sport.

Jonathan Lee

Chief Operating Officer

Jonathan Lee was appointed to the Executive of the New Zealand Association of Credit Unions in February 2011.

Jonathan has an extensive background across a broad range of functions including strategy development and risk management, public relations and communication, product manufacture and marketing, finance, and distribution and business development.

Prior to NZACU, Jonathan held a number of senior roles at AMP Financial Services including management of AMP’s third party channel.  Prior to AMP, he spent several years working overseas in Toronto, Canada and London.  

Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University and a Master of Business Administration from Henley Management College in the UK.

In November 2012, Jonathan was also appointed to the Board of Cooperative Business New Zealand (CBNZ). CBNZ brings together the country's cooperative and mutual businesses to promote, encourage and support the cooperative and mutual business model, and act as the representative association for those engaged as cooperatives and mutuals.

Jonathan lives in Auckland and his interests include golf and spending time with his young family.

Deane Johns

Chief Information Officer

Deane Johns was appointed as Chief Information Officer of New Zealand Association of Credit Unions in August 2011.

Deane has extensive experience in a broad range of insurance, IT and service delivery roles.

Deane began his career after completing a Bachelor of Science at Victoria University. He worked for Royal Sun Alliance for 15 years initially as an Underwriter and Claims Settlements Manager.

Deane was previously employed by Gen-i as Programme Manager, responsible for a large team managing the ERP upgrade for a large New Zealand Ccorporate.

Deane has a strong understanding of strategic issues, IT roadmaps, project governance and proven leadership experience.
