About NZACUNew Zealand Association of Credit Unions ("NZACU" or "the Association") is the largest body in New Zealand representing the interests of Credit Unions, with 22 Member Credit Unions which make up approximately 69% of all New Zealand Credit Union members. Our purpose is to help promote, develop and grow Credit Unions through training, advice and help on all aspects of Credit Union management - together with a range of banking and insurance products to all Member Credit Unions. Our MissionThe NZACU exists to represent, promote and support Member credit unions and provide cost effective business services. Who governs the NZACU?The Association has a Board of Directors and operates two separate Divisions: Member Services and Business Services. Elections are held for positions on the Board from Member Credit Unions. The day to day operations of the Association are the responsibility of the Chief Executive. The NZACU and the International Credit Union MovementThe NZACU operates according to international Credit Union Operating Principles founded on the philosophy of co-operation and democracy. The Association is a member of the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) and an Associate Member of the Credit Union Services Corporation of Australia Limited (CUSCAL). Such memberships provide up to date information and co-operation from Credit Union organisations worldwide. Today there are over 49,000 Credit Unions in 96 countries, representing over 177 million members with over US$1.1 trillion in assets. |
